Gujarat’s semiconductor ambitions are gaining momentum as CG Semi gears up to commence pilot operations next week at its ₹7,600 crore outsourced semiconductor assembly and testing (OSAT) facility in Sanand GIDC.
Spread across 32 acres, the facility will initially operate a qualification line, with full-scale production targeted by 2026. This marks a major milestone in the development of Gujarat’s growing semiconductor ecosystem. “Gujarat, with its clear vision of becoming a semiconductor hub, has already attracted the Tata Group’s $10 billion fab project in Dholera, now under construction and expected to start production by end-2026,” said Sudhir Naik, Head (Mid-West Region), India Electronics and Semiconductor Association (IESA).
Gujarat is currently the only state in India hosting four OSAT/ATMP/chip packaging plants—three in Sanand and one in Surat. Surat-based Suchi Semicon has already begun production, and all facilities are expected to be operational within the next two years.
