The National High-Speed Rail Corporation Limited (NHSRCL) has successfully completed the launching of a 130-metre span steel bridge for the Mumbai–Ahmedabad Bullet Train project.
Located near Kanthariya village in Bharuch district, the bridge spans National Highway-64 and the Bharuch–Dahej freight line of Indian Railways. The continuous steel structure comprises two spans measuring 130 metres and 100 metres, with the 130-metre span launched on 9 December 2025. The bridge stands 18 metres high, is 14.9 metres wide, and weighs approximately 2,780 tonnes.
Fabricated in Bhuj, Gujarat, the bridge has been designed for a service life of 100 years. It has been constructed using high-strength Tor-Shear Type bolts and protected with a C5-grade paint system to ensure durability. Assembly was carried out on temporary trestles positioned 14 metres above ground level, and the launching operation was executed using two semi-automatic jacks and Mac-Alloy bars.
An NHSRCL official stated that the successful completion of the bridge launch reflects the organisation’s commitment to efficient project execution while minimising disruption to existing infrastructure and traffic.
