Backbone Secures ₹289 Cr Chhattisgarh Irrigation Win

Backbone Construction has emerged as the lowest bidder (L1) for an EPC turnkey lift irrigation project in Chhattisgarh aimed at expanding irrigation infrastructure and improving agricultural productivity in the region.

The project involves the execution of seven lift irrigation schemes drawing water from intake points on the Udanti River and the Lower Indra Reservoir. The scope of work includes the development of a complete water distribution network up to the one-hectare chak level, covering a planned culturable command area (CCA) of approximately 8,800 hectares under Cluster-XXVIII.

In addition to irrigation infrastructure, the project also includes associated power system connectivity to support the efficient functioning and operation of the lift irrigation systems. Backbone Construction secured the project with a successful bid valued at approximately Rs 289.68 crore.

Once implemented, the irrigation schemes are expected to improve water availability for farmland, reduce dependence on monsoon rainfall, and enhance irrigation reliability for farmers across the command area. The project is also expected to contribute to higher agricultural productivity and long-term rural development in the region.
