The Ministry of Jal Shakti has constituted a Technical Expert Group (TEG) to advise on remedial measures for the rehabilitation of the plunge pool at the Srisailam project.
The move follows safety concerns raised by Telangana Irrigation officials, which prompted a site inspection by the National Dam Safety Authority (NDSA) in April 2025. Subsequently, the Engineer-in-Chief of Andhra Pradesh conveyed the state’s willingness to have an expert group formed under the Central Water Commission (CWC) to provide technical guidance for implementing long-term rehabilitation measures. The Ministry has formally notified both Andhra Pradesh and Telangana regarding the formation of the group.
The TEG will be chaired by Vivek Tripathi, Chief Engineer, CWC, and will include experts Somesh Kumar, Samarth Agarwal, Arun Pratap Singh, and Madhukant Goyal from various CWC departments. The group will address the multidisciplinary technical aspects involved in the rehabilitation of the project.
