Polavaram Push: Naidu Drives Project to 88% Completion Mark

On 4 December 2025, Andhra Pradesh Water Resources Minister Nimmala Rama Naidu reviewed key components of the Polavaram Irrigation Project, including the diaphragm wall and the ECRF dam, announcing that the project has reached 88% overall progress.

The diaphragm wall reconstruction has extended to 950 metres, marking 75% completion. The technically challenging right connectivity tunnels have reached 82% progress, while the left tunnels are at 62%. The Minister noted that the buttress dam has been fully completed, enabling uninterrupted work even during the monsoon season, and highlighted that the current administration has achieved a 12% increase in project progress within a year.

Emphasizing rehabilitation as a top priority, the Minister stated that ₹2,000 crore has been released to support displaced families. He added that work on the left main canal is advancing rapidly, with expectations that Godavari waters will reach Anakapalli by 2026.
