East Coast Railway (ECoR) has launched a fencing project worth over Rs 1,000 crore to enhance railway safety and facilitate higher train speeds.
According to an official statement, the initiative aims to ensure safe train operations, prevent trespassing, and restrict the movement of cattle and wild animals near railway tracks. ECoR, which operates across the Khurda Road, Sambalpur, and Waltair divisions, has allocated Rs 388.85 crore for track safety fencing along a 1,025.3 km stretch under the Khurda Road Division.
Additionally, a proposal is under consideration for safety fencing in the Jakhapura-Kendujhargarh-Nayagarh Railway Section and other sensitive areas within the Khurda Road Division.
