Titagarh Rail Systems has rolled out its first driverless Made-in-India metro trainset for Ahmedabad, marking a major milestone in India’s urban mobility journey. The trainset was handed over to the Gujarat Metro Rail Corporation (GMRC) at Titagarh’s Passenger Rail Systems facility in Uttarpara, West Bengal.
Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendrabhai Patel, who attended the event, described the project as a key enabler of the state’s high-speed urban mobility plans. The lightweight stainless steel trainsets are durable, corrosion-resistant, and designed to enhance energy efficiency and sustainability. They will operate on the 28.26 km Ahmedabad–Gandhinagar Metro network.
Equipped with advanced Train Control and Management Systems, the trains support fully driverless operations and offer modern amenities, including dedicated spaces for Persons with Reduced Mobility (PRM). Titagarh Rail Systems Chairman and Managing Director Umesh Chowdhary reaffirmed the company’s commitment to delivering sustainable, future-ready transportation solutions and outlined plans for global expansion.
