ReNew, a leading renewable energy company, has inaugurated a massive 1.3 GWp solar power project in Jaisalmer, Rajasthan. Spanning approximately 3,500 acres across multiple villages in the Pokran and Bhaniyana tehsils, this is the largest solar installation of its kind in India built entirely using Made-in-India components.
The inauguration ceremony was led by Union Minister of New and Renewable Energy, Pralhad Joshi, alongside Rajasthan Chief Minister Bhajan Lal Sharma. A standout feature of the project is its exclusive use of ReNew-manufactured solar panels—90% of which were produced at the company’s facility in Jaipur. This makes the project a landmark achievement under the government’s ‘Make in India’ initiative, demonstrating true self-reliance in clean energy infrastructure.
Expected to generate around 2,490 million units of electricity annually, the plant will provide enough energy to power nearly 500,000 households. It will also help avoid approximately 2.3 million tonnes of CO₂ emissions every year—making a significant contribution to India’s sustainability goals. The electricity will be supplied at a highly competitive rate of ₹2.18 per kWh, reinforcing ReNew’s mission to deliver affordable and accessible clean energy.
Speaking at the event, Minister Joshi stated:
“Today marks a historic milestone for India—and especially for Rajasthan, which is emerging as the heart of the nation's renewable energy revolution envisioned by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. This nearly 1.3 GWp solar facility, built entirely with Made-in-India modules—90% of them right here in Rajasthan—is a proud step forward for Atmanirbhar Bharat.”
