AAI Invites Bids for $179 Crore Shillong Airport Upgrade

The Airports Authority of India (AAI) has invited bids for Phase-II of the expansion project at Barapani (Shillong) Airport, located in Ri Bhoi district, Meghalaya.

The scope of work includes the runway extension, terminal building expansion, apron development, construction of an Essential Services Building (ESS), and other supporting infrastructure. This phase also features the establishment of an Airport Internal Communication and Monitoring Centre (AICMC) to enhance operational efficiency.

Valued at Rs 179.47 crore, the project will be executed on an Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) basis to ensure streamlined implementation and timely completion. Strategically located near Shillong, the upgraded airport is expected to boost regional connectivity, promote tourism and trade, and accommodate increasing passenger traffic with improved facilities.

The deadline for bid submission is 03 November 2025.
