Schneider Electric’s ₹718 Cr Tamil Nadu Takeover

Schneider Electric India has announced an investment of ₹718 crore to expand its manufacturing facilities in Chennai and Coimbatore, along with setting up a new greenfield manufacturing plant in Hosur, Tamil Nadu. The investment is expected to generate 663 direct jobs and further strengthen the state’s position as a major hub for advanced electrical equipment and energy management solutions.

The investment plan was formalised through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed between Schneider Electric and the Tamil Nadu government in the presence of Chief Minister MK Stalin.

The upcoming Hosur facility will focus on prefabricated solutions and cooling systems. Spread across 5,00,000 sq. ft. at Horizon Industrial Park, the plant will feature rooftop solar power, energy-efficient HVAC systems, and EV charging infrastructure. Industries Minister TRB Rajaa cited Tamil Nadu’s predictable approval processes, skilled workforce, and strong industrial infrastructure as key factors behind the company’s expansion decision.
