L&T’s Steel Victory: New EPC Contracts from SAIL

L&T’s Minerals & Metals (M&M) business has secured multiple engineering, procurement and construction (EPC) contracts from the Steel Authority of India (SAIL) and other domestic clients.

Under SAIL’s modernisation programme, the IISCO Steel Plant at Burnpur in West Bengal is set to expand its crude steel capacity from 2.5 million tonnes per annum (MTPA) to 6.5 MTPA. As part of this expansion, L&T M&M has been awarded the complete EPC scope for key process facilities, including the coke oven battery, by-product plant, basic oxygen furnace and specialised material handling systems.

In a separate project, L&T M&M will execute the establishment of Sinter Plant 2 at SAIL’s Bokaro Steel Plant in Jharkhand.

Additionally, the business vertical has secured several orders for advanced material handling solutions such as stacker reclaimers and wagon tipplers, underscoring L&T’s technological capability and strong execution credentials across the minerals and metals value chain.
