Norden and C-DAC Develop AI Thermal Cameras

UK-based Norden Communication has forged an exclusive partnership with the Centre for Development and Advanced Computing (C-DAC) to pioneer AI-driven general-purpose thermal cameras, revolutionizing security protocols and industrial operations.

Functioning as a Transfer of Technology (TOT) collaborator, Norden is dedicated to the production, marketing, and integration of these cutting-edge thermal cameras across critical sectors including national highway (NH), defense, and oil and gas. Anticipated to constitute approximately 30 percent of production, this collaboration underscores a commitment to bolstering national security within the framework of the Make-in-India initiative. C-DAC, operating under the aegis of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), spearheads this innovative venture.

The AI-infused general-purpose thermal camera represents a breakthrough in surveillance technology, tailored for industrial exigencies. Its adaptability ensures precise data acquisition under varying light and weather conditions, rendering it indispensable across a spectrum of applications encompassing NH infrastructure, border surveillance, forestry management, solar energy facilities, and beyond. Notably, these thermal cameras exhibit remarkable efficacy in snow-covered environments, leveraging infrared radiation detection to capture heat signatures, thereby enhancing operational efficiency even in the harshest climates.
